Ingredients:
* A bunch of dandelions
* 1 cup milk
* 1 egg
* 1 cup plain flour
* ½ tsp salt
* ½ tsp pepper
* About 1 cup vegetable oil or canola oil
Get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and pick some dandelions. The bigger and fluffier, the better. (Please make sure they have not been sprayed with chemicals!)
Cut off the stems close to the flower heads, leaving only enough green to hold the petals together.
Rinse blossoms gently in a bowl of cool salt water, and let dry on paper towels.
Mix the milk, flour, egg, salt and pepper together. Refrigerate batter for 30 minutes.
Using tongs, dip the flowers in the batter. Place them carefully into very hot vegetable oil or canola oil to fry them. Flip once. (The dandelions, not yourself.)
When the blossoms become golden brown, lift them out of the oil and drain them on paper towels.
Serve them hot with ranch dressing, balsamic vinegar, or your favorite dip. (They kind of taste like mushrooms.) They also go really well with queso fresco, or another white, mild and salty cheese. It’s a fun thing to do on a lazy summer day!
