… and I really don’t see how you can mess it up! I mean its chocolate. If you make it right it will change your life (only a slight exaggeration). If you mess it up it will probably still be pretty delicious. I made Giada’s Chocolate Honey Almond Tart from her Giada at Home cookbook this weekend. My inspiration? Chocolate. The occasion? Sitting on my couch watching chick flicks one night of Memorial Day weekend and I firmly believe that calories do not count on holidays. Did I really eat the entire tart and call it dinner? No, but I seriously considered it.
This treat was yummy, simple and took very little time to make- but you would never know it after taking a bite. Basically it’s a graham cracker (couldn’t find chocolate graham crackers so used regular ones), almond crust with a thick fudgy layer of semi sweet chocolate with a light honey flavor. The thin, but flavorful and buttery crust covered in the rich chocolate creates the perfect combination that make this tart taste like a indulgence you would find in a bakery rather than my kitchen.
This dessert is one of those things that you take out of the refrigerator at just the right time and say to your dinner guests, ‘would anyone like something sweet? I whipped this up this afternoon.” And as they take a bite and look at each other and then at you with that “you MADE this?” look on their face you smile and say “oh it was easy”. And it was! (you know, now that I have figured out how to follow the recipe and all that)
So far I’m 1 and 1. I ruined one dish and nailed the other. Let’s see how the next one goes. I can’t wait… I’ve been craving pasta.
